Welcome to Orkney Fishermen's Society

Orkney Fishermen's Society was established in 1953. Beginning life largely exporting live lobster the business has grown to become one of the foremost processors of brown crab in the UK.

Still a co-operative owned largely by inshore fishermen the OFS is now internationally recognised as being among the leaders in crab processing, producing a range of products for retail, wholesale and export markets.

Throughout the food industry, the Orkney name has become synonymous with the highest quality, both in terms of products and the level of service offered to customers. The 70 or so islands and skerries which makes up the Orkney archipelago has over 500 miles of coastline all within 30 miles of the BRC Global A accredited factory in Stromness.

Our commitment to quality is backed up by our commitment to sustainable fishing. The co-operative is a key supporter of Orkney Sustainable Fisheries Ltd, a not-for-profit organisation which runs the local lobster hatchery and is engaged in various initiatives relating to the long-term security of inshore fishing in the islands.

The Orkney Fishermen's Society wins the 'Partnership for Success Award' and an additional 'Excellence Award' at the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards for 2011.
